I’m glad this has a base and it looks more Parisian than London(ian). The curved surface of the balls gives your photo taking pose a pleasing differing rendition. Certainly different than a single relfection pose and each layer revels a little more of what was around you. Interesting!
If Akikana means that this has a ring of the excesses of the court at Versailles then I suppose one could see Paris. In fact, that is an interesting reflection on pomp and baubles, which also appeal to monarchists in the UK!
I think that photography and sculpture have a useful relationship in that there are many sculptures that most of us never get to see and when we do, we may not see them in the same way that someone else does.
I also ponder on photography’s role in capturing the ephemeral, on the presumption that this piece will eventually leave the RA this photo will almost certainly be totally unique in the viewpoint of this time and place – and having Rex in it of course!
