That dog is so key to the balance of this as is the lady’s hand resting on the barrier. Everything wants to fall out of this to the right. So without those two anchors it would. On first look this came over as being very cluttered/busy. But upon each subsequent viewing it appears even less so which each item having an important part to play in the whole. Talking of wholes, that half-man is well caught. As is the bag (?) bottom right. This takes a lot of time to look at but well worth the time. A visual symphony.
As akikana says – a picture to enjoy slowly. The choc bar and leg work particularly well as a combination to hold the picture together.
It is very difficult to see past the apparent main subject (woman and dog), but once I do, this has lots to enjoy. Makes me think about other photos that I may not have looked closely enough at. Also, about that old question of educating the audience.
Perhaps I’ve just not had enough time lately to “enjoy slowly”, so I’m still working through the clutter. (and thinking about award winning ice cream). My favorite part so far is the half a headless man and his stance, where I can almost imagine what the rest of him looks like.
I am curious about why she is standing there? She cannot be going anywhere unless she is a devotee of Parkour. Is she pausing for a breath, just
caught at the point of grabbing the rail or is she talking to someone on the left?
Perhaps waiting for a friend to bring out a giant cone, with flake.
The image gets across a feel for the busy and crowded side of Falmouth.
Rather reminds me of times spent in Devon and Cornwall. I like the “cream” nature of the cardigan against the ice- & clotted-cream. Half-details, right, give it that air of a moment captured.
Minor point – I’m finding the hard edges of the disabled sign drawing me away from the rest.

Thanks Akikana – bit of a slow news day. I also felt that the chocolate bar in the ice cream helped counter the fall off to the right.
