First impression was ‘that’s a big piano’

The abstract feel of this is superb and I just want to enjoy that abstractness and not try too hard to extract the reality.

The verticals root it in some sort of reality as do the imperfections in the reflecting surface. In fact, it is those small holes and dents that help that large expanse at the top integrate with the rest of the picture. Even then, I wonder about the proportion of the ‘active’ lower part to the blanker top half. One is drawn to those two brown eyes and for me they are not quite in the right place.

The colouring is lovely and the thin, light grey/brown line running between the two zones merits a picture on its own. For all my comments in the first paragraph, there are lots of abstract details to enjoy.

Nora and I are off to see Anish Kapoor at the RA………………….!

I have no idea at all how this is a “Self portrait at the beach”, but it certainly is fun to look at.

This reminded me of…..Munch’s ‘The Scream’. Superb abstract. Not much more I can add! Well seen.

I like the simplicity and abstraction. The way it all works together really intrigues me about the nature of the reflecting surface, which adds some thinking depth.
